In John's gospel, Jesus plainly says who he is over and over again. And yet, he confused everyone. To make matters worse, they kept asking him the wrong questions. When we encounter the miraculous, we ask the wrong questions too. This sermon is about all those wrong questions when we see the face of God.

When Jesus asks Peter if he loves him, and Peter responds, "yes Lord, you know that I love you," they are using two different words for love. The drama and meaning of this moment is bittersweet and profound, and it also makes a lot more sense if we know the words. This sermon is about this touching final moment in the Gospel of John.
