“Churches should be the most honest place in town, not the happiest place in town.”

– Walter Brueggemann

This is a sermon about honest lamentation. We sometimes can get stuck as Christians only wanting to pray happy things or for the church to be a happy place. When the reality is that God calls us to share all of our lives in prayer and in church. We are called to be a church who can both celebrate and lament. A church that doesn't put on a "happy face" during the Christmas season, but continues to be the most honest place in town in both joy and sorrow.
