Eighteenth Sunday after Pentecost 2015 - The Reverend Geoffrey Chapman

Monday, September 28th, 2015

The gospel is a serious story in a very serious library of texts called the Bible. Sometimes it would be really nice to hear cute fables on Sunday morning, but the Bible isn't meant to entertain, it is meant to save people terrified by death, hunger, pain, disease, violence and suffering. This is a sermon reminding us of why the language of the gospel is often so dark and so serious.

Fifteenth Sunday after Pentecost - The Reverend Jessica Worden-Bolling

Rev. Jessica Worden-Bolling reminds us that even though Jesus, in his humanity, was challenged to welcome those who are different from his Jewish brethren; his mind and actions were changed. Just like Jesus welcomed those in need and offered healing, so too are we challenged and asked to welcome those in need, to be open to God's call for justice.
